One More Summer Day

I’m not ready to admit summer is over.

Yes, September is here.

Yes, the mornings are a little cooler.

And yes, the stores are already trying to convince me I need pumpkins.

But I’m not there yet.

I still want one more patio dinner where we sit outside longer than we planned.

One more barbecue where nobody wants to go inside because the evening is too nice.

One more walk by the beach with the sun still warm enough that you can pretend fall isn’t waiting just around the corner.

There’s always something about the end of summer that makes me want to squeeze in just one more outing.

One more ice cream.

One more dinner outside.

One more evening where the only real plan is to enjoy the weather while we still can.

Because I know what’s coming.

Soon I’ll be reaching for sweaters, blankets, and wondering why it gets dark at what feels like the middle of the afternoon.

And honestly, I like fall.

I do.

But summer still has a few good days left, and I intend to use every single one of them.

So if anyone needs me, I’ll be outside somewhere, probably eating.

I have priorities.
